Supporting mood and behavioral health, strengthening emotional regulation

Changes in mood, irritability, anger, or emotional reactions can become difficult to manage when they begin affecting relationships, school, work, family interactions, or everyday responsibilities. Mood and behavioral health services address concerns such as mood disorders, bipolar disorder, emotional regulation difficulties, anger, and other behavioral or emotional symptoms through evaluation, treatment, and ongoing clinical support. These services are available through telehealth for eligible clients located throughout Maryland, including individuals whose concerns require continued behavioral health follow-up.

How It Works

Support focuses on the mood and behavioral concerns affecting the individual and may include:

  • Mood disorder evaluation and treatment based on reported symptoms and clinical presentation
  • Bipolar disorder management addressing ongoing mood-related treatment needs
  • Support for behavioral and emotional health concerns affecting everyday functioning
  • Anger and emotional regulation support for difficulties managing strong emotional responses
  • Discussion of patterns involving mood changes, irritability, anger, or behavioral responses
  • Ongoing treatment addressing changes in symptoms and behavioral health needs

What to Expect

The provider considers the individual’s reported mood or behavioral concerns in the context of how they affect everyday functioning and relationships. For someone managing bipolar disorder or another mood disorder, follow-up may involve reviewing changes in mood and the individual’s ongoing response to treatment. For emotional regulation or anger concerns, sessions may focus on the situations that contribute to difficult reactions and approaches for managing those responses as part of ongoing care.
